Busy Friday -RCIA 1st Scutiny-Sr. Jackie's Anniversary -Talk for Parents-Jln Kuala Krai BEC meeting

Today was a busy day with activities in the morning and evening. During the morning mass, 9 candidates/elect were prayed over in the First Scrutiny and received the Creed. Please pray for the candidates in their preparation for their sacraments of initiation.

Fr. Francis Andrew also said a special prayer for Sr. Jackie who is celebrating her 12 anniversary after her final vows as an FMM sister, but according to her, she has spent a total of 19 years from the time of her novitiate till now.

After mass, at 11.00am,  Fr. Francis Andrew gave an interesting and animating talk to about 25 parents of catechism children and their teachers. The talk mainly touched on the role of parents in their children's spiritual education as the first primary principal educators. Parents should create an atmosphere for God in their homes. Children learn by example from their parents. Values, attitudes, forgiveness, love, and other good things are learnt form parents indirectly by example.  The reality today is that we do not put much priority on the religious education of our children. Catechism classes come last when competing with tuition, music, dancing classes. The home is the first school of faith, and we must know and practise our faith. As an example, Fr. Francis shared with us that his parents were very strict in their children's religious upbringing. Praying together as a family - The Angelus was prayed at 7.30 pm and the Rosary at 9.30 pm everyday without fail. Today, 2 of his sisters have joined the religious order, while he himself has been called to the priesthood.

The talk was interpersed with interesting video clips which highlighted the salient points being made. Thank you Fr. Francis for reminding us parents and teachers of our roles and our priorities in our faith.

In the evening, the Jalan Kuala Krai BEC held the first meeting of the year at the home of its coordinator, Rosalind Wong in Taman Kala Perdana, with a mass by Fr. Francis followed by dinner and fellowship.
