Celebrating National Unity Week (Minggu Perpaduan) 2019

In conjuction with National Unity Week, Jabatan Perpaduan Kelantan in collaboration with MCCBCHST organized the program entitled, “Jelajah Wacana Muhibah Budaya” from 22nd - 25th April 2019. This year's programme included visits to all houses of worship of each religion, starting with the launching of the four-days' programme at the famous 'Beijing Mosque in Rantau Panjang. On the 2nd day, they visited the Sri Muthumariamman Hindu Temple in Tumpat, followed by a visit to the Wat Phothikyan Phutthaktham Buddhist (Siamese) temple in Bachok. On Thursday 25th April, they visited the Church of Our Lady of Fatima in the morning while the closing ceremony was held at the Sri Gurdwara Sahib Sikh Temple at 12.00 pm.
As Fr. Francis was away on leave, he organized a team to present various topics on the Church to the audience. The team included Joseph Wang, Sr. Carol, Laura, Francis Lai, Billy Teoh, and Agnes Lee. Topics presented include: History of the Church, Church Hierachy, The Mass, Sacraments, Ministries in the Church and Church Etiquette.
Gerard Yeo, as PPC Chairman, welcomed the visitors to the church. The Director of The Jabatan Perpaduan Kelantan, Pn. Norwahidah also welcomed the people, most of whom were visiting the church premises for the first time and explained the aim of the programme which was to promote unity and better understanding of each other's religios culture through visiting our houses of worship.
The Dialogue session was quite engaging, but Francis Lai and Billy Teoh managed to answer their questions. The participants were then taken for a tour of the Church. They wanted to know the origin of the name Fatima, and diffferences between the Protestant and Catholics.

Holy Week Celebrations 14 - 21 April 2019

This year's Holy Week Celebrations culminated on Holy Saturday, 20th April with the Baptism of  6 adults and 8 children followed by Confirmation for 16 adults.. 4 girls also received their first Holy Communion.
Holy Week began on Friday 12th April 2019 with the youth animating the Palm Sunday Mass. It was also World Youth Day.
Holy Thursday was celebrated with washing of the feet of 12 men from the BEC's and catechumens. It was followed by solemn adoration of the Blessed Sacrament until midnight.
Good Friday saw a good turnout of parishioners for the Way of the Cross at 4.00 pm. It was held on the Church field under a scorching sun. Good Friday service began with the  Liturgy of the Word, followed by the traditional Public prayer of the Faithful, Veneration of the cross and Holy Communion.
On Good Friday night, at 8.00 pm, parishioners and guests from other Christian Churches witnessed a wonderful display of the acting ability of the youthful cast for the Passion Play, entitled "Watch The Lamb" - a reenactment of the last hours of our Lord's crucifixion. The youths and altar servers of the parish led by Nicholas Martin and Billy Teoh managed to bring tears to the eyes of the audience in presenting the sufferings of Christ. It was recorded on video by a team of professionals and the video will be available soon.

Holy Saturday saw the church in darkness, lighted only by the Paschal Candle, as Fr. Francis Andrew led the procession towards the darkened church. The Exultet was beautifully sung by Dr. Mexmillan, one of the church musicians, followed by the beautiful readings on Salvation History from Genesis till the New testament. The water was blessed and we witness the baptisms of adults and children followed by Confirmation. The Holy Eucharist followed and it was indeed a blessed Easter for all of us. A late supper awaited all who attended the ceremonies of the Easter Vigil.
The following day was Easter Sunday, with a early Morning Mass at 7.00 am, as Fr. Francis and Gerard Yeo, our PPC Chairman, with 3 others had to travel to Gua Musang to celebrated mass with the migrant workers.  They rushed back in time to celebrated the evening Easter Sunday Mass at 7.00 pm.
