FMM 60th Anniversary Celebrations
Friday 13 May 2022 Kota Bharu
On this Feast of Our Lady of Fatima, the parish together with our Franciscan Missionaries of Mary (FMM) sisters celebrated 60 years of FMM presence in Kelantan with a Thanksgiving mass animated by the FMM sisters followed by a short but meaningful celebration after mass. The Theme chosen for this Diamond Jubilee is "60 Years of Building Communion", celebrating the contributions of the FMM sisters past and present to the Parish community. Presently, there are four FMM sisters, Sr. Regina Ho, Sr. Enid Lopez and Sr. Mary Anne Fletcher and the parish's first Religious vocation, Sr. Angeline Poh.
After the mass celebrated by Fr. Konstend Gnanapragasam, there was a short programme planned for the FMM Sisters by Youth & KCCS (Kelantan Catholic Campus Solidarity). After the opening prayer by Fr. Konstend, there was the cutting of the Anniversary Cake by three FMM sisters. The MC, Mr. Francis Lai then introduced Sr. Enid who had written a unique song about the parish, to the tune of "The Happy Wanderer". Sr. Enid sung the song with Gusto as the parishioners clapped and cheered. Two students from UMK Jeli then showed their talents, rendering 2 Sabahan songs. An impromptu dance was performed by the Telipot BEC led by none other than the MC himself! The celebrations culminated in a packed brunch of nasi lemak prepared by a parishioner and other kuehs and cakes.
All in all, memories of this 60th Anniversary will remain as the FMM continues to help in the building of communion in our community. May the Lord continue to bless the FMM sisters in their mission to serve the Catholic community in Kelantan and bring the Good News to those they meet.
