Today's Mass' theme was 'The Family of God'. In his homily, our celebrant, Archbishop Emeritus Murphy Pakiam elaborated on the theme, and reiterated the importance of the family - of praying together, and family life lived in the love of God and of one another. The first reading reminds us of the original plan of God in creating man and woman. and the Gospel of Mark reminded that wht God has put together, man must not put asunder'. He asked all to pray for the synod on family life which begins next week, that the Holy Spirit may enlighten the minds and hearts of the participants to uphold the tradition of marriage and family in the church, and making it relevant to the modern times.

After mass, the whole Fatima Family of God put their energy into a thorough 'mid-autumn' cleaning of the church and its surroundings. This annual activity -the Parish Gotong Royong brought all groups together to work side by side in making our House of worship and rooms and compound ready for our 65th Parish Feast Day next Friday. Well done, everybody and thank you for your participation!

Fr. Louis Guittat having being parish priest at the Holy Rosary Church and Our Lady of Fatima in Kuala Lumpur, was inspired to combine the two names together and our church in Kota Bharu was given the name Our Lady of Fatima of the Holy Rosary! Though we usually use the first part of our name, Our Lady of Fatima, or OLF, our annual feast day is celebrated on the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, which falls on 7th October each year. October is also the month of the rosary established by Pope Leo XIII.
At Fatima, Portugal in the months from May to October 1917, Our Lady appeared to 3 shepherd children, Lucia Santos and her cousins Jacinta and Francisco Marto. She identified herself as the 'Lady of the Rosary' and asked them to pray the rosary often for the peace of the world. Consequently, Russia was consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and subsequently the whole world was consecrated to Mary. The Fatima prayer is often prayed at the end of each decade of Hail Mary's
